In 1937, the heroic Bernard O'Reilly went on foot in search of a plane which crashed on its way from Brisbane to Sydney, saving the lives of two survivors. During a stormy afternoon on 19 February, 1937, the Stinson airliner on route from Brisbane to Sydney crashed into the Lamington Ranges. The crash killed four of the seven passengers on board. The search failed to turn up any wreckage. Ten days later, Bernard O'Reilly set out on foot to find the Stinson wreckage. He managed to find the crash site and to his surprise, two survivors in desperate need of medical attention. This year they commemorate the 76 years of the Stinson rescue. Join them as they retrace Bernard O'Reilly's famous journey through the rainforest as he searched for the survivors. This walk is a difficult walk and a certain level of fitness is required. Celebrate the 76 year anniversary of the brave walk and complete it for yourself.
